Essential Movement for a Happy, Healthy, Mobile Baby
In a Developmental Dance together, parents learn to bond with their baby in new and intimate ways. Our approach encourages Parenting through Movement in prenatal development, during pregnancy and to promote a healthy lifestyle for parents and their baby in the first year. From a baby’s fluid environment in the womb and birth into a gravity oriented environment -- life is movement! The fetus and the newborn explore, embody and learn about themselves through touch and movement. New research shows that beginning in utero twins interact socially through touch and movement. In this presentation we will review and learn how Parent and Baby FloorMoves™ sessions every day build their baby’s body, brain and joy of movement. Video and Photo vignettes from our recent baby movement research will demonstrate the newborn’s ability to be an active participant and how early gaze and gesture through touch influence reciprocal social interactions.
