Why does Birth Matter? Biochemical and Psychological Impacts

The title question will be addressed with regard to three aspects in this presentation.
• Biomechanical aspects through the birth process, including biomechanical consequences for the body of the infant through the duration of labor, presentation, stages of labor, forceps, ventouse, cesarian, etc.
• Biochemical consequences of birth: Lesions of the upper cervicals cause opening of blood brain barrier and oxidative stress in the system. Lifelong consequences of birth medications (Synthetic pitocin, tocolytic medication, epidural, pain medication, etc.)
• Psychological issues caused by the birth experience. Consequences of shock, disturbances of neurotransmitter household, observations, and experience.
