APPPAH
Cinema Recognition Award Ceremony

Wednesday, Nov 16, 2005
Free Admission

Want to start your Congress experience off with a healthy dose of inspiration, revelation and cinematic excellence? Then do come to the first ever APPPAH Achievement in Film evening on Wednesday, Nov. 16.

This year we will honor Loggerheads, which garnered rave reviews this spring at the Sundance film festival. We have long recognized that adoption has much to teach us about pre- and perinatal dynamics, and this beautiful film about an adopted man and his two mothers dramatizes and illuminates such APPPAH-related themes as separation and the mother-child bond; connection/disconnection and the genesis of self; and the essential nature of love.

Following a screening of the film and an award presentation, you’ll have the chance to hear from the filmmakers! Award co-chairs Marcy Axness (coincidentally an adoptee herself) and Thomas Verny will join a panel discussion of the film’s issues with writer/director Tim Kirkman. Actor Tess Harper is expected to join them, as well as one or more of the following: producer Gill Holland and actors Bonnie Hunt, Michael Learned and Chris Sarandon. This promises to be a very rich and special evening. Please come, enjoy, and be part of APPPAH history in the making.

The evening is open to registrants and the public—Admission Free!
Seating is limited, reserve a seat(s) on conference registration for or notify the APPPAH office.
Date and Time: Wednesday, November 16th at 7:30 pm
Location: Town and Country Convention Center in the Regency Ballroom
