Leading edge science is shattering old myths and rewriting the fundamental beliefs of human civilization. Cell biologist and bestselling author, Bruce H. Lipton, PhD, offers a “new” biology that takes us beyond economic collapse and religious extremes to reveal that such chaos is a natural step in an unfolding process, rather than the tragic end to a broken planet.
The Biology of Belief is a journey that takes you into the world under a microscope, through the history of evolution and into the subtle realms of your own consciousness. Infusing his pioneering stem cell research with insights from frontier cell biology, quantum physics, and fractal mathematics, Bruce unveils a revolutionary vision of life science that illuminates the hidden connections among biology, psychology, spirituality and our imminent evolutionary upheaval. This dynamic presentation reviews how our prenatal and perinatal programming shapes our genetics, behavior and thoughts, elements that create the conditions of our body and our place in the world.
Bruce H. Lipton, Ph.D., a pioneer in the new biology, is an internationally recognized leader in bridging science and spirit. A cell biologist by training, Bruce was on the faculty of the University of Wisconsin’s School of Medicine and later performed groundbreaking stem cell research at Stanford University. He is the bestselling author of The Biology of Belief and the more recent Spontaneous Evolution, co-authored with Steve Bhaerman. Bruce received the 2009 prestigious Goi Peace Award (Japan) in honor of his scientific contribution to world harmony.
Many medical and psychological conditions of pregnancy (i.e. hyperemesis gravidarum, premature contractions, failure to grow, hypertension, breech, post date pregnancy, etc.) are surprisingly responsive to short term interventions. With self hypnosis and brief psychotherapy ,symptoms can often stop or be alleviated fairly rapidly and women gain a deeper understanding of the underlying meaning, develop more trust in their body and baby and feel more empowered. Perinatal carefivers will learn specific methods to uncover the mothers' concerns and resolve them.

Much of her clinical management in the perinatal period has focused on the following: 1). women with a history of childhood sexual abuse and its effects on childbearing; 2) the use of hypnosis and brief psychotherapy to alleviate clinical symptoms of pregnancy such as premature labor, hyperemesis gravidarum, bleeding; and the psychological issues of anxiety and depression; 3) attachment disorders; 4). issues of birth trauma and loss; 5) postpartum mood disorders: and 6) methods of pain relief in labor with self-hypnosis. Dr. Davis-Floyd will talk about human and cultural evolution.
Gregg Lahood PhD is an independent anthropological researcher and transpersonal gestalt psychotherapist. His interests include the transpersonal, spiritual, evolutionary and perinatal dimensions of childbirth. He has interviewed over 100 women in Australia and New Zealand and written and about the unique woman centered participatory events that women can participate in during childbirth in dozen articles on childbirth and transperspersonal psychology. Gregg's work suggests that women's spiritual events in childbirth are a valid but overlooked dimension in childbirth and psychology. He has developed Birth Centered Healing which combats harmful technocratic ritual wounding at childbirth with a healing counter ritual.
(This workshop will be limited to 10 participants and is only open to people who are present at birth and able to put their hands on the baby at that time, e.g. midwives, doulas, obstetricians, nurses etc.)
Cranial-sacral and pre and perinatal psychology tools, when used at birth, can reduce the need for medical intervention, and decrease the severity of birth trauma. You will learn anatomy of the skull, neck and back pertinent to birth trauma, including practical information about the location, function, and vulnerability pertaining to cranial nerves, and blood supply. There will also be experiential hands-on exercises. Techniques will be taught for the resolution of birth trauma, including how to hold and decompress the sub-occipital area, spine, sacrum, and other traumatized areas of the body. You will also be taught how to quickly create a safe and healing container (“womb surround”) while helping the baby to re-connect with their resources. Strategies for how to help a baby that cannot tolerate touch will also be taught.
Dr Dennis Hertenstein has a cranial sacral and chiropractic practice in Santa Rosa, California and has 40 years experience in trauma resolution with all ages, integrating pre and perinatal psychology into his work. He specializes in the resolution of birth trauma with babies and children. He has been teaching board certified cranial sacral courses, sponsored by chiropractic colleges and organizations internationally (US, UK, France, Sweden, Norway) for 25 years. Dennis has also taught classes on birth trauma interventions to birthing professionals suitable for application immediately postpartum. www.CranialWorkshops.com
