2012 Congress
Announcing New Frontiers in Birth Psychology
The Association for Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology and Health would like to announce APPPAH'S 17th International Congress, which will be held at the lovely Kabuki Hotel in San Francisco November 15-18. This year our theme is New Frontiers in Birth Psychology.
Carrying forward the wonderful energy of the 2011 Congress, the Executive Planning Committee, Jeane Rhodes, Ellynne Skove, Pat Martin, and Maureen Wolfe, is working to create a line-up of inspirational speakers for this 17th Congress. We expect to publish a list of keynote speakers soon after the beginning of the New Year.
Put the dates on your calendar now and check out the special very early registration rate. We will be updating this page regularly as details are confirmed, but you can expect to be informed and inspired as we delve into the future directions for APPPAH and the professionals who support and energize this work.
The most important participant in this congress will be YOU, so start planning now to be in San Francisco November 15th through the 18th of 2012 to explore and celebrate New Frontiers in Birth Psychology.
At this point we can announce the following:
- Speakers include Stan Grof, Peter Nathanielsz, Elan McAlister, Thomas Verny, Carista Liminaire, Michael Mendizza, Robbie Davis-Floyd, Suzanne Arms, Myrna Martin, Dennis Hertenstein, Karen Strange, Tony Madrid, Gerhard Schroth, William Emerson, Ludwig Janus, Rupert Linder, Eva Gundberg, and Julie Gerland. We will be adding others to this list as we select concurrent speakers from the wonderful proposals we are now receiving.
- We are adding 3-hour training sessions to the program. These will feature leaders in the field sharing practical applications for work in prenatal and perinatal psychology. We will have both full-day pre-congress workshops and half-day post congress workshops. The post congress workshops will focus on applications for working with families after birth (our post-partum component).
- Participants will actively engage in focus groups in a continuation of networking begun at the 2011 Congress.
The excitement is building – don’t miss out on early registration rates ($350 for APPPAH Members and $400 for non-members until April 15th).
