An associate professor of psychology and a survivor of birth trauma. I am in the process of organizing a Vancouver-based PTSD support group for women who have been traumatized while giving birth to their children. I am also beginning to do scientific research into the psychological and medical circumstances that lead women to experience trauma at the hands of their health-care providers. Finally, I am looking for ways to raise political awareness of the wide-spread abuse and disrespect that women are subjected to in obstetrical practice.
