Brief Bio: Elçin Akturan is a psychotherapist and holding a BA in Psychology, and in thesis making of MSc in Psychopathology. She graduated from Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) Certificate Program at Bilgi University and is one of the co-founders of the Turkish Expressive Art Therapies Association. She lead dance movement therapy groups at Istanbul Medicine University Hospital with psychiatric patients and later at Neolife Medicine Center with breast cancer survivors. Her current work is focused on adapting DMT for pregnant women and childbirth professionals. Movement empathy, attunement, prenatal bonding, embodiment of childbirth movement rhythms of both unborn child and mother-to-be are some of the fundamental concepts of her work. She presented her latest work “Childbirth Supporters’ Own Healing” at the European Dance Movement Therapy Association Conference in 2016.

Brief Description of Presentation: Embodiment of fetal movement may guide both expectant parents and childbirth professionals to form non-verbal attunement and sensitivity to conscious yet-to-be-born child’s movement attributes, needs and well-being.
