The following excerpts from Barbara Findeisen’s book, Womb Prints, are shared
here with permission from her estate. Womb Prints was originally published in 2016 and
reissued in 2018, with a few updates. The selections chosen to share with you below include
the preface written for the 2018 edition, the introduction, which was updated for the 2018
edition, and a chapter titled “Cascade into Chaos: Trauma at Birth,” which is chapter nine
in the 2018 edition. These were chosen as they seem to most clearly reveal Barbara’s
intentions in her life and in her work as a pioneering prenatal and perinatal therapist. The
included chapter from the book contains two case studies. One of these is rather long and
includes transgenerational aspects of the central client’s story. The shorter case history
demonstrates how someone who doubts the validity of birth and prebirth memories came to
accept their power and accuracy.
