Biography Dr. Cheryl Romano is a professional life and parenting coach, and a professor of psychology. She has a doctor of psychology, masters in psychology, and certificate in humanitarian assistance in global health from Loma Linda University. Her dissertation was a program evaluation assessing the effectiveness of the services, satisfaction of parent/guardians, and outcomes in children assessed at her university based pediatric neurodevelopmental psychology clinic. She is a graduate adjunct professor in psychology for Kaplan University, and an associate professor teaching a capstone education course online for Ashford University, and teaches a Crisis and Trauma Counseling course on campus for Brandman University. Dr. Romano has a certificate from Fielding Institute in Parent-infant mental health, a certified practitioner and trainer in parent-child-interaction therapy (PCIT) from UC Davis, is a certified-trainer in the CANS Child Assessment of Needs and Strengths, certified in the NCAST-SW Teaching and Feeding scales,certified in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing, is a Diplomat, Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress, has training in Circle of Security,and Wait, Watch and Wonder. Professionally she has worked extensively with infants, children and adolescents, conducting assessment and treatment, was part of two SART programs in early intervention and was the 0-3 assessment coordinator. Researcher and clinician for a grant funded program that assessed hundreds of women in the San Bernardino County Jails, and subsequently developed a parenting program in jail; and a parent and child program for released offenders. Was the education supervisor for the release program which focused on released women from jail, that had children under 5 years of age, to improve attachment between mother and child, and reduce the individual and generational cycle of incarceration (Maternal Intervention Project). Dr Romano is presently pursuing a Master in Public Health (MPH) degree online with Kaplan University. She is an active volunteer with the American Red Cross, and has served since 1982. Dr. Romano continues to work with parents and children as a parenting coach.
