Biography Deb is a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) and licensed in the state of California (LM). She is certified by both Doula Organization of North America as a doula (CD), and the International Childbirth Education Association, as a childbirth educator (ICCE). Deb retired from primary care midwifery in 1995. However, the death of her teacher Jeannine Parvati, and the births of her 7 grandchildren, brought her out of retirement. Deb has spent her adult life dedicated to personal growth, women’s empowerment, birth and cultural change. She has been a practicing primary care midwife since 1978 and helped to craft the legislation that licensed midwives in Alaska in 1979-80. She was founding member of MANA, Midwives Association of North America, 81-82. Deb joined the Association of Pre and Perinatal Psychology and Health in 1983; she worked on the core committee that created the PPNP Educator Certification for APPPAH. Deb now lives in California with her husband and is active in the California Association of Midwives. She is currently working on a graduate degree in Midwifery at The Midwives College of Utah. She is a member of AME, Association of Midwifery Educators. Deb is the founder/director of the Institute of Feminine Arts and Sciences (IFAS) this institute seeks to address all the academic disciplines from a feminine perspective. The institute is dedicated to seeing PPN Psychology integrated into the core competencies for midwives, physicians and all birth workers. Deb is member of NOW, National Organization of Women and the Ass of Business and Professional Women, Deb is a feminist who believes in the importance of bringing women and our feminine values into our dominate culture. Deb is a student of human development deeply devoted to "healing birth" on planet earth. She now devotes her volunteer efforts to the BirthKeeper Movement as its founder
