APPPAH Live: Exploring Birth Psychology- HeartMath Approach to Perinatal Bonding with Jorina Elbers, MD, MSc
July 18 @ 12:00 PM - 1:00 PMFree
Self-regulation and Synchrony: A HeartMath Approach to Perinatal Bonding
Research has shown that parent-infant synchrony plays an important role in regulating a child’s physiological system and developing their capacity for self-regulation. This capacity for self-regulation, in turn, builds the foundation for a child’s health and social development. Parent-infant bonding can be challenging, however, in the face of mounting personal, financial and social stressors. Helping parents develop their own capacity for self-regulation amidst everyday stressors is a critical ingredient in the discussion of parent-infant bonding. This presentation will provide further information of how parent-infant synchrony builds a child’s self-regulatory capacity, and will teach two HeartMath techniques that practitioners can share with parents to assist them in self-regulation and increase perinatal bonding. www.heartmath.org
