Brief Bio: My personal pregnancy, birth, and early parenting experiences led me to into the amazingly complex, spiritual, and at times overwhelming world of pregnancy, birth, and parenting. Something powerful was ignited within me and I began pursuing and collecting what I like to call “Birth Wisdom”.
In 2001 I became a birth doula and began my business, Sacred Passages Doula Care. I attended nearly 100 births; some in hospitals, some in birth centers, and many in homes. As a birth doula I observed the power of birth as well as the possibility for trauma, regardless of environment. I began to understand that how a women felt about her experience made a huge impact on her, her baby, her family and her experience.
Understanding that clients come to pregnancy with the entirety of their personal experiences, beliefs, and knowledge I wanted to provide them with more. I integrated Whole Birth Prenatal Yoga, lactation education, childbirth education, and mindfulness into my doula practice.
Desiring to provide greater services I went on to obtain my Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Seattle University in 2009 and worked for several years as a labor and delivery nurse in a hospital. I knew I wanted to continue my education as well as increase the services I could provide so I went on to graduate school with the intention of becoming a full scope nurse-midwife.
In 2014 I obtained my Master’s of Science in Nursing with a specialty in Midwifery from Frontier Nursing University and passed my national certification exam granting me the title, Certified Nurse-Midwife.
In December 2015 I obtained my Doctorate of Nursing Practice through Frontier Nursing University’s Doctorate of Nursing Practice program so that I may continue to expand and improve the services I offer.
