Barbara Hoteling’s career began with a BSN degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After the birth of her second child she became a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, DONA Certified Birth Doula, and a volunteer in teen parenting programs in Pontiac, Michigan. She also served as President of DONA (1995-1997), Chair of the Coalition for Improving Maternity Services (2000-2002), and President of Lamaze International (2002-2004). Currently she serves on the Board of Directors as APPPAH Diversity Chair. She also serves as book review editor for JOPPPAH. She is a Clinical Nurse Educator in Maternal Child Health at Duke University. Her proudest achievements are five children and eight grandchildren.
