Dr. Heather Clarke discovered Pre- and Perinatal Psychology after practicing and teaching as a midwife for over 30 years. Until that time, her passion for midwifery centered around support and advocacy for women. After discovering APPPAH, Dr. Clarke’s passion turned to the babies. She dedicated her career to creating healthier families for babies to be born into. Her work has evolved to preventing perinatal and early childhood trauma. Her own personal story combined with the examples of other birth professionals increased her understanding of how perinatal experiences may shape one’s ability to be fully present and help clients to work through their trauma and come back into regulation.
