Jane Riccobono is a trained birth doula practicing at San Francisco General Hospital and a research assistant at the UCSF Osher Center for Integrative Medicine on a project led by Larissa Duncan, PhD and Nancy Bardacke, CNM. As a doula Jane has seen firsthand the powerful effect of mindfulness on coping with childbirth. At the Osher Center, Jane is working to investigate the effects of mindfulness training on the experience of pain and fear in labor. She believes that promoting mindful childbirth can provide a foundation for the empowerment and contentedness of women and their families.
