Nancy Hurwitz Kors, Ph.D
Brief Bio: Nancy received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from York University in Toronto. Her Ph.D. dissertation was entitled, “Prenatal Anxiety and Attitudes and their Relationship to Labor, Delivery, and Post Natal Adaptation.”
Nancy has been working in the field of adoption since 1986. She is considered a maverick since she is the only one in the sea of adoption attorneys, social workers, and adoption facilitators who seems to understand that adoption is a specialized birth. Other professionals think of adoption as a “business transaction” and resist continuously when she insists that birthmoms need nutritious food, a safe place to live, and lots of emotional support. Furthermore, it is very difficult to convey the message that what happens to the birthmother during her pregnancy and birth affects the long term physical and emotional health of the baby.
