The “Natural” Cesarean: An Online Survey of Israeli Women’s Attitudes

Author(s): Shapira, Lauren Amy.

The “natural” cesarean is an elective cesarean technique, which attempts to mirror the normal physiology of the vaginal birth process and the immediate period after birth, conceptualized in the early 2000s and gaining popularity. Women who have no choice but to undergo an elective cesarean section, their babies, and spouses can all benefit from this procedure. Although previous studies examined women’s attitudes towards cesarean delivery, women’s attitudes towards the “natural” cesarean have not been studied. The purpose of this study was to assess Israeli women’s attitudes toward the technique via an online survey and map obstetric departments with its practice.
