Interview with William Emerson

Abstract:

William Emerson, PhD, is a renowned and early pioneer in the field of pre- and perinatal psychology. He practiced pre- and perinatal psychotherapy for more than 40 years, specializing in regression therapy and developing and implementing methods for treating pre- and perinatal trauma in infants, children and adults. He was the first in the world to develop treatment techniques for infants, including psychotherapeutic interventions. He is a renowned workshop leader, writer, and international lecturer and has been active in promoting research and practice in pre- and peri-natal psychology. As a long-term member of APPPAH, he encouraged the creation of a training and certification program for professionals dealing with birth. He was President of APPPAH for six years, and is now an Emeritus President and mentor for the organization. His next book on trauma caused by the maternity care system will be published in 2015. Another book on prenatal twin-loss will follow.
